Arriving in Malaysia

To get to your accommodation or city center from KLIA 1 or 2, you can use various modes of transportation depending on your starting point and preference. Here are some common options:

Airport taxi or e-hailing service

This is the most direct and convenient way to travel, especially if you have luggage.

  • Step 1: Upon arrival at KLIA 1/2, follow the signs to the taxi or car service counters, located in the Arrival Hall.

  • Step 2: You can either book a metered taxi or use ride-hailing apps like Grab/Maxim/AirAsia MOVE.

  • Step 3: Provide the destination and pick-up point

  • Step 4: The journey typically takes about 40 to 60 minutes to the city center, depending on traffic, and the cost can range from MYR 65 to MYR 120

Bus

This is a more budget-friendly option.

KLIA 1

  • Step 1: Go to the bus terminal located on the Ground Floor of Block C at KLIA 1.

  • Step 2: Purchase a ticket for a bus heading to KL Sentral. The SkyBus and Aerobus services are reliable options, with fares around MYR 12–15.

  • Step 3: The bus journey to KL Sentral takes about 1 hour.

  • Step 4: From KL Sentral, take the LRT (Kelana Jaya Line) to KLCC station, which takes about 10 minutes.

KLIA 2

  • Step 1: After collecting your luggage, proceed to the bus terminal located at Level 1 of the Gateway@KLIA2 mall.

  • Step 2: Purchase a ticket for a bus heading to KL Sentral. The SkyBus and Aerobus services are reliable options, with fares around MYR 12–15.

  • Step 3: The bus journey to KL Sentral takes about 1 hour.

  • Step 4: From KL Sentral, take the LRT (Kelana Jaya Line) to KLCC station, which takes about 10 minutes.

KLIA Express/Transit

The KLIA Express/Transit is the fastest and most direct option. You may click here to access the metro routes and schedule. 

  • Step 1: After collecting your luggage, follow the signs to the KLIA Express station located on Level 1 of main Terminal Building (KLIA 1) or Level 2 of the Gateway@KLIA2 mall (KLIA 2).

  • Step 2: Purchase a ticket for the KLIA Express. The fare is MYR 55 for adults and MYR 25 for children (as of 2024).

  • Step 3: Board the train, which departs every 15 minutes during peak hours and every 20 minutes during off-peak hours.

  • Step 4: The journey to KL Sentral takes about 33 minutes.

  • Step 5: From KL Sentral, you can take the LRT (Kelana Jaya Line) to KLCC station. The LRT ride takes about 10 minutes.

Pre-Arrival Requirement for Foreigners: Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC)
